Quarterfinalists
To date, of the 24 Bettendorf squads that have qualified for the playoffs,
16 of them have made it past the Quarterfinals--quite a feat since the
majority of the time the Dawgs have had to face [traditionally] a tough M.V.C. team such as Iowa City High. The first time
Bettendorf ever lost in the
Quarterfinals was in 1993--a season in which the Dawgs were not only the two-time defending state champions, but also winners of 30-straight games. A Tim Dwight-led
Iowa City High squad defeated Bettendorf at home and eventually won the state championship. Most recently, Bettendorf lost
in the Quarterfinals in 2003 to Muscatine--a team they had beaten previously during
the regular season--and in 2008 to the Warriors of Cedar Rapids Washington.
